Create a launch plan for a high-risk Dynamics feature for knowledge workers

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Microsoft is a productivity, software, AI, gaming, and cloud company; its products include Windows, Microsoft 365, Teams, LinkedIn, Xbox, Azure, Dynamics, and Copilot.

You are the PM responsible for launching a high-risk Microsoft Dynamics feature aimed at knowledge workers such as sales reps, account managers, customer support leads, and operations teams who use Dynamics daily to manage customer records, tasks, workflows, and business decisions. The feature may affect core productivity flows, customer data, permissions, integrations, or business-critical processes, so the launch must be deliberate and enterprise-ready.

In this execution interview, define how you would take the feature from pre-launch readiness through rollout, monitoring, mitigation, and broader availability. The focus is not on designing the feature itself, but on creating an operating plan that earns customer trust while minimizing disruption for enterprise users and IT administrators.

Your plan should reflect Microsoft’s context: large enterprise tenants, security and compliance expectations, ecosystem dependencies across Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Teams, Azure, and third-party systems, and competition from products such as Salesforce and productivity collaboration tools.

The experience should consider:

- Launch objectives, target users, customer segments, and what “successful launch” means for Dynamics knowledge workers

- Key workstreams, owners, dependencies, and sequencing across product, engineering, design, data science, security, compliance, support, sales, and customer success

- Pre-launch validation, dogfooding, beta or private preview approach, customer readiness, and risk assessment

- Go/no-go criteria, including product quality, reliability, adoption signals, support readiness, security review, and compliance requirements

- Rollout strategy across tenants, geographies, industries, admin controls, and user cohorts

- Monitoring, incident response, rollback or kill-switch planning, and customer communication if issues occur

- Enablement for admins, end users, sales teams, support teams, and partner ecosystems

- Post-launch measurement, feedback loops, mitigation of launch risks, and criteria for expanding availability

The goal is to present a clear, practical launch plan that balances speed, customer value, enterprise trust, and operational safety for a high-risk Dynamics feature used by knowledge workers in real business workflows.
