Problem Statement Description
Product context: LinkedIn is Microsoft's professional network; its products include profiles, feed, jobs, recruiting, LinkedIn Learning, sales tools, messaging, and ads.
You are the PM responsible for launching a high-risk LinkedIn Feed feature designed for hiring managers globally. The feature is intended to help hiring managers discover, evaluate, or engage with talent-related content within the Feed, while preserving LinkedIn’s professional trust, member experience, and marketplace integrity.
This is an execution-focused question. The interviewer is looking for how you would plan and operationalize a launch at global scale, not for a feature design solution. You should assume the feature touches a sensitive surface with broad distribution, potential impact on job seekers, recruiters, creators, and advertisers, and meaningful risks around relevance, fairness, spam, privacy, and trust.
Hiring managers may use LinkedIn Feed in fragmented workflows: staying updated on industry talent, seeing candidate signals, engaging with employee or company content, and coordinating hiring needs with recruiting teams. The launch plan should account for these workflows while managing dependencies across Feed ranking, notifications, identity, jobs/recruiter products, legal, policy, sales, support, and international markets.
The experience should consider:
- Launch scope, target hiring-manager segments, geographies, languages, and platform surfaces.
- Sequencing from internal testing to limited rollout, controlled experiments, broader availability, and global launch readiness.
- Owners, cross-functional dependencies, decision forums, and operating cadence across product, engineering, data science, trust, legal, comms, and customer-facing teams.
- Go/no-go criteria, success metrics, guardrails, and thresholds for Feed quality, member trust, engagement, and hiring-manager utility.
- Risk management for unintended reach, bias, low-quality recommendations, spam, privacy concerns, regulatory exposure, and negative member sentiment.
- Instrumentation, monitoring, alerting, experimentation design, and post-launch review loops.
- Rollback, kill-switch, incident response, customer/member communication, and escalation paths.
- Market-specific launch considerations, including localization, policy differences, enterprise customer expectations, and support readiness.
Your goal is to present a rigorous launch plan that shows how you would safely take a sensitive Feed feature from pre-launch validation to global rollout, balancing speed, quality, trust, and measurable business impact.
