Create a metric dashboard for the executive team reviewing Marketplace

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Meta is a social technology company; its products include Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, Threads, Quest, creator tools, and ads.

Meta’s executive team wants a concise, decision-ready dashboard to review the health and trajectory of Marketplace, with particular attention to the seller side of the ecosystem. Marketplace depends on local supply, buyer trust, messaging, discovery, and transaction intent, so the dashboard should help leaders understand whether sellers are successfully creating inventory, reaching buyers, and contributing to a safe, liquid marketplace.

Your task is to define what an executive dashboard should measure, how the metrics should be structured, and how the dashboard would support recurring business reviews. Assume executives need a high-level view that can surface meaningful changes quickly, while still allowing follow-up by market, category, seller segment, and funnel stage.

The dashboard should consider:

- Clear metric definitions, including numerators, denominators, time windows, and whether each metric reflects users, listings, messages, or transactions

- Seller lifecycle coverage, from seller activation and listing creation to buyer engagement, successful outcomes, retention, and re-listing behavior

- Marketplace liquidity indicators that connect seller supply with buyer demand without overstating success from vanity activity

- Cohorts and cuts such as geography, category, new vs. repeat sellers, casual vs. high-volume sellers, and mobile surface/source of traffic

- Instrumentation needs across listing creation, search/browse exposure, messaging, seller responses, item status changes, and safety/reporting events

- Guardrail metrics for trust, safety, spam, policy violations, poor-quality listings, user reports, and degraded buyer or seller experience

- Executive usefulness, including trend visibility, anomaly detection, comparison to targets, and ability to distinguish growth, quality, and efficiency changes

The goal is to describe a dashboard that helps Meta leadership make informed decisions about Marketplace performance, investment priorities, and risks, while ensuring the metrics are precise, interpretable, and actionable rather than a broad collection of disconnected numbers.
