Create a metric dashboard for the executive team reviewing Teams

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Microsoft is a productivity, software, AI, gaming, and cloud company; its products include Windows, Microsoft 365, Teams, LinkedIn, Xbox, Azure, Dynamics, and Copilot.

Microsoft’s executive team is reviewing the performance and strategic health of Teams, with particular attention to how well it serves recruiters and hiring organizations. Recruiters use Teams to coordinate interview loops, communicate with hiring managers, run candidate calls, share feedback, and work across Microsoft 365 and third-party recruiting systems. The dashboard should help executives understand whether Teams is driving meaningful productivity, engagement, reliability, and enterprise value in this workflow.

This is a metrics design question, not a visual design exercise. You should define what the executive audience needs to monitor, how each metric should be interpreted, what the denominator is, and how the data would be instrumented. The dashboard should distinguish between overall Teams health and recruiter-specific workflow health, while accounting for enterprise constraints such as security, compliance, tenant-level administration, and privacy.

The experience should consider:

- The executive decisions the dashboard should support, such as investment, prioritization, retention risk, competitive positioning, or segment growth.

- Clear metric definitions, including numerator, denominator, time window, aggregation level, and ownership.

- Recruiter-relevant cohorts, such as organization size, industry, geography, tenant maturity, hiring volume, role type, and integration usage.

- Instrumentation across meetings, chat, calendar, files, apps, admin controls, and recruiting workflow touchpoints.

- Guardrail metrics for reliability, latency, call quality, security incidents, compliance issues, notification fatigue, and user trust.

- Ways to separate adoption, engagement, productivity outcomes, and business impact without double-counting usage.

- How the dashboard should surface trends, anomalies, leading indicators, and comparisons against relevant collaboration alternatives.

The goal is to propose a dashboard framework that would let Microsoft executives quickly assess whether Teams is succeeding for recruiters, where the experience is healthy or deteriorating, and what follow-up decisions or investigations the metrics should trigger.
