Decide what to cut from a delayed fraud detection workflow launch

You are the PM responsible for launching a delayed fraud detection workflow designed to reduce risk for family accounts, such as shared payment methods, child or teen profiles, household subscriptions, marketplace purchases, or caregiver-managed access. The workflow is intended to detect suspicious activity, route cases for review or user verification, and help families recover safely without creating unnecessary friction for legitimate users.

The launch has slipped, and leadership is asking you to decide what to cut, defer, or simplify so the team can still ship a safe and useful version. Engineering, operations, policy, legal, support, data science, and design teams are involved, and some components may be incomplete, such as automated risk scoring, manual review tooling, user notifications, appeals, localization, reporting dashboards, or edge-case handling.

This is an execution decision under ambiguity. You need to show how you would protect users and the business while making pragmatic scope trade-offs, sequencing the remaining work, aligning stakeholders, and defining clear criteria for launch readiness.

The experience should consider:

- The core user and operational workflows that must work on day one for family fraud detection, review, notification, and resolution.

- Which components are safety-critical, compliance-critical, trust-critical, or operationally nice-to-have.

- Owners, dependencies, staffing constraints, and sequencing across product, engineering, risk, operations, support, policy, and legal.

- Go/no-go criteria for launch, including acceptable false positives, false negatives, review backlog, latency, coverage, and escalation readiness.

- Rollout approach, such as internal testing, limited cohorts, geography or segment phasing, and controlled exposure.

- Mitigation plans for launch risks, including user harm, account lockouts, delayed reviews, support overload, model errors, and abuse adaptation.

- Rollback, monitoring, communications, and incident response plans if the workflow performs poorly after release.

Your goal is to describe how you would make and communicate the cut decisions, preserve the minimum viable risk-reduction outcome for families, and create an operating plan that allows the launch to proceed responsibly without hiding material safety or trust risks.
