Problem Statement Description
You are the PM responsible for launching a new profile and identity flow for community managers on a large-scale platform. The flow is intended to help community managers create or update their profile, prove their identity or affiliation, and reach a “verified activation” state so they can access trusted community-management capabilities.
The launch is now delayed. Engineering, design, operations, legal/compliance, and support teams are asking what can be removed, deferred, simplified, or kept in order to ship a credible first version without creating trust, safety, accessibility, or operational problems. You need to make a clear execution decision under time pressure, not redesign the entire product.
Your task is to frame how you would decide what to cut from the delayed launch, what must remain for a viable release, and how you would manage sequencing, communication, and risk across stakeholders.
The experience should consider:
- The end-to-end workflow for community managers, from profile creation through identity submission, review, verification, and activation.
- Which parts of the flow are critical to trust, safety, compliance, and verified activation versus which are quality-of-life or scale optimizations.
- Owners and dependencies across product, engineering, design, policy/legal, support, operations, and trust/safety.
- Launch sequencing, including what can ship now, what can be manually supported, and what should be deferred to a later milestone.
- Go/no-go criteria, including activation success, review accuracy, support burden, error rates, and user confusion.
- Rollback or mitigation plans if the reduced scope causes verification failures, abuse, operational overload, or community-manager dissatisfaction.
- Internal and external communication needed so teams and users understand what is included, what is missing, and what happens next.
The goal is to demonstrate how you would make a pragmatic launch-scope decision that protects the core verified activation outcome while reducing delay, managing cross-functional risk, and preserving a clear path to complete the remaining profile and identity capabilities after launch.
