Problem Statement Description
You are evaluating a live event discovery experience built for compliance reviewers. These reviewers need to find live events that may require policy review, prioritize which ones to inspect, and take appropriate action while events are still active. The business goal is conversion, but in this context conversion must be carefully defined so it reflects meaningful progress in the reviewer workflow rather than just clicks or page views.
The product sits at the intersection of discovery, trust and safety, and operational efficiency. A reviewer may move from an event feed or search surface into an event detail page, start a review, complete a decision, escalate the event, or dismiss it as not requiring action. Your task is to define how success should be measured across this funnel and how the metrics would help product and operations teams decide whether the discovery experience is improving reviewer effectiveness.
You should assume the system operates at scale, with live events of varying risk levels, regions, languages, categories, and urgency. Metrics should account for both business conversion and compliance quality, since increasing conversion at the cost of missed violations, reviewer overload, or delayed interventions would not be acceptable.
The experience should consider:
- A clear definition of the main conversion event and the denominator used to calculate it.
- Funnel stages from event exposure or discovery to reviewer action completion.
- Instrumentation needed to capture impressions, clicks, review starts, decisions, escalations, dismissals, and time-based events.
- Cohorts such as reviewer role, event risk tier, geography, language, event category, device/tooling surface, and new versus experienced reviewers.
- Guardrail metrics for review quality, false positives, missed violations, latency, reviewer workload, and appeal or reversal rates.
- Decision usefulness: how the metrics would indicate whether to ship, iterate, or investigate the discovery experience.
- Potential data integrity issues, including duplicate events, bot or automated review activity, stale live events, and inconsistent policy labels.
The goal is to define a metrics framework that shows whether live event discovery helps compliance reviewers find the right events faster and complete the right actions more reliably, while supporting the business objective of conversion without compromising trust, safety, or operational quality.
