Design an inventory forecasting panel for account managers that improves revenue recovery

Problem Statement Description

Account managers often own revenue targets across a book of customers, sellers, advertisers, or enterprise accounts, but they may not have a clear, timely view of which accounts are at risk due to inventory shortages, excess inventory, supply constraints, stockouts, or demand shifts. When the right inventory is unavailable or poorly allocated, revenue can be lost through missed renewals, unfulfilled demand, churn risk, delayed campaigns, or underperforming account plans.

Design an inventory forecasting panel that helps account managers identify revenue recovery opportunities and take action before losses occur. The panel should translate inventory and demand signals into an account-facing workflow: which accounts need attention, what is driving the risk, what revenue is recoverable, and what next step the account manager should take with internal teams or customers.

Assume the product operates in a business environment with many accounts, changing inventory availability, sales commitments, demand forecasts, and operational dependencies. The experience should be usable by non-technical account managers while still being trusted by sales, operations, finance, and inventory teams.

The experience should consider:

- The primary account manager workflow, including daily prioritization, account review, customer preparation, and escalation.

- How inventory risk, forecast confidence, demand signals, and revenue impact are presented in a clear and actionable way.

- How users distinguish urgent revenue recovery opportunities from low-priority alerts or normal inventory fluctuations.

- What account-level, product-level, region-level, or time-based filters and drilldowns are needed.

- How the panel supports collaboration with supply, operations, finance, or customer success teams.

- How recommendations, forecasts, and assumptions should be explained to build trust without overwhelming users.

- How the experience handles incomplete data, forecast uncertainty, stale information, and false positives.

- Accessibility, global usage, and operational scalability for account teams managing large books of business.

The goal is to define a product experience that helps account managers recover otherwise lost revenue by making inventory-related risks visible, understandable, and actionable within their existing account management workflow.
