Problem Statement Description
Product context: Adobe is a creative, document, and marketing software company; its products include Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Adobe Express, Firefly, and Experience Cloud.
Adobe Experience Cloud serves enterprise marketing teams and agencies that manage campaigns, content, audiences, journeys, analytics, and optimization across multiple client accounts. In this question, you are asked to design event instrumentation for Experience Cloud at scale so product, engineering, customer success, and agency stakeholders can understand how users move through critical workflows and where friction, failures, or drop-offs occur.
Assume the environment includes high-volume enterprise usage, multi-tenant agency-client structures, integrations across Adobe and non-Adobe tools, privacy-sensitive customer and end-user data, and workflows that may span web apps, APIs, batch jobs, automation, and AI-assisted features. The instrumentation must support reliable measurement without degrading product performance or violating trust, consent, or enterprise governance expectations.
Your scope is not to redesign Experience Cloud itself, but to define how events should be captured, structured, governed, transported, validated, monitored, and made useful for product decisions and operational health at scale.
The experience should consider:
- Key user and system workflows to instrument, such as campaign setup, asset usage, audience creation, journey activation, reporting, collaboration, approvals, and cross-product handoffs.
- Event taxonomy and schema design, including naming conventions, required properties, identifiers, timestamps, client/account context, and versioning.
- API, SDK, and data pipeline requirements for collecting events from web experiences, backend services, integrations, and automated workflows.
- Reliability expectations, including event delivery guarantees, deduplication, ordering, latency, retries, sampling, and handling offline or degraded states.
- Privacy, consent, security, and compliance constraints for agencies operating across multiple clients, regions, roles, and permission models.
- Observability and data quality controls, including validation, anomaly detection, monitoring dashboards, lineage, and alerting for broken instrumentation.
- Rollout and migration planning, including backward compatibility, documentation, stakeholder adoption, testing, and governance for future event changes.
The goal is to describe a technical product approach that enables trustworthy, scalable, and actionable instrumentation for Experience Cloud while balancing enterprise reliability, user privacy, implementation complexity, and the practical needs of agency users and internal Adobe teams.
