Problem Statement Description
You are evaluating a marketplace used by enterprise teams to discover, assess, and purchase products, services, vendors, or integrations. The marketplace has invested in trust-building experiences such as verified provider profiles, reviews, certifications, compliance signals, buyer protections, service-level assurances, dispute handling, security documentation, and transparent pricing or terms.
The business question is not simply whether these trust features increase short-term conversion. You need to diagnose whether they create durable value for enterprise teams: helping buyers make confident decisions, reducing perceived risk, improving repeat usage, and supporting higher-quality marketplace transactions over time.
Frame this as a metrics problem. Define how you would measure trust-driven value, what data you would need, how you would separate correlation from meaningful impact, and how you would know whether the marketplace is becoming more trusted for enterprise decision-makers rather than merely pushing more users through the funnel.
The experience should consider:
- How “enterprise teams” are defined, including company size, buying committee behavior, admin involvement, procurement needs, and repeat marketplace usage
- Clear metric definitions for trust, conversion, transaction quality, retention, repeat purchase, and long-term value
- Appropriate denominators, such as exposed buyers, qualified enterprise accounts, active evaluators, purchase-ready teams, or completed transactions
- Instrumentation needed across discovery, evaluation, vendor comparison, compliance review, checkout, post-purchase support, and renewal or repeat usage
- Cohorts and segments, including new vs. returning enterprise accounts, high-risk vs. low-risk categories, verified vs. unverified suppliers, and different deal sizes
- Guardrail metrics such as complaint rate, refund or dispute rate, vendor quality, time to decision, support burden, fraud or abuse, and buyer satisfaction
- How to distinguish durable trust creation from short-term conversion lifts caused by discounts, ranking changes, sales intervention, or selection bias
- How the metrics would inform product decisions, investment priorities, and whether trust features should be expanded, redesigned, or limited to certain marketplace categories
Your goal is to propose a practical measurement approach that helps product and business leaders decide whether marketplace trust is producing sustained value for enterprise teams and the marketplace overall.
