Estimate revenue potential for local delivery experience if adoption improves reliability

Problem Statement Description

You are evaluating the revenue potential of a local delivery experience for marketplace sellers, where the core hypothesis is that improving delivery reliability will increase seller adoption and usage. Sellers may use the service to offer faster, more predictable delivery to nearby buyers, but unreliable pickup, handoff, tracking, or delivery windows may currently limit trust and repeat usage.

Your task is to size the revenue opportunity from improving reliability, not to design the reliability solution itself. Consider how many marketplace sellers could adopt local delivery, how often they would use it, what delivery-related revenue the platform could capture, and how improved reliability might change adoption, order frequency, retention, or monetization.

The estimate should be structured enough to support a product or business decision: whether reliability improvements in local delivery are likely to justify investment. You may choose a market geography, seller segment, or platform scale assumption, but you should make the scope explicit and keep assumptions internally consistent.

The experience should consider:

- The market scope: geography, marketplace size, seller categories, and which “local delivery” use cases are included or excluded.

- The unit of estimation: sellers, orders, deliveries, GMV, platform revenue, delivery fees, commissions, or another revenue basis.

- Seller adoption assumptions before and after reliability improves, including what “adoption” means.

- Delivery frequency per active seller and how reliability may affect repeat usage or seller retention.

- Revenue capture per delivery or order, including fees, take rate, subscription uplift, or incremental marketplace commission.

- Key constraints such as courier capacity, delivery radius, category fit, seller operations, and buyer demand.

- Sensitivity of the estimate to the most important assumptions, especially adoption lift, order frequency, and revenue per delivery.

- Sanity checks against marketplace behavior, local commerce patterns, and operational feasibility.

The goal is to produce a clear, defensible guesstimate of potential annual revenue and explain which assumptions matter most. The interviewer is looking for structured reasoning, explicit scope, reasonable assumptions, and a practical understanding of how reliability can translate into seller adoption and monetizable delivery volume.
