Problem Statement Description
Product context: LinkedIn is Microsoft's professional network; its products include profiles, feed, jobs, recruiting, LinkedIn Learning, sales tools, messaging, and ads.
LinkedIn Company Pages are a core surface for professional identity and B2B engagement: candidates evaluate employers, recruiters showcase hiring brands, employees engage with company updates, and page admins manage content, jobs, and analytics. In this scenario, you are the Technical PM responsible for improving the reliability and latency of Company Pages, with particular attention to recruiter and candidate workflows where slow or failed page loads can reduce trust, engagement, and hiring effectiveness.
Assume the product depends on multiple backend and frontend systems, such as company profile data, posts, jobs, follower counts, recommendations, media, admin permissions, analytics, and personalized modules. The interview is asking how you would frame the technical product problem, identify where reliability and latency are hurting users, define requirements, and lead cross-functional execution without jumping directly to a single engineering fix.

- Data and system dependencies, including profile services, feed/content services, jobs data, media delivery, permissions, personalization, and analytics pipelines.
- Instrumentation and observability needed to identify bottlenecks, distinguish frontend vs backend issues, and monitor cohorts such as recruiters, candidates, page admins, geographies, traffic sources, and company size.
- Product and technical trade-offs around freshness vs speed, personalization vs cacheability, feature richness vs page weight, graceful degradation, and consistency across web and mobile.
- Privacy, security, and trust considerations for company identity, admin access, analytics visibility, recruiter workflows, and logged-out public page access.
- Rollout and operational planning, including ownership, dependencies, experimentation, guardrail metrics, incident response, rollback criteria, and stakeholder communication.
The goal is to describe how you would lead a technically grounded product effort to make LinkedIn Company Pages faster and more dependable, while preserving the professional trust, business value, and user workflows that make the surface important.
