Product context: DoorDash is a local commerce and delivery platform; its products include restaurant delivery, DashPass, grocery and retail delivery, merchant tools, and dasher tools.

DoorDash wants to improve the reliability and latency of DashPass at global scale across its local commerce marketplace. DashPass affects high-frequency consumer workflows such as browsing eligible merchants, applying subscription benefits at checkout, placing orders, resolving membership status, and receiving support when benefits do not appear correctly. Because these experiences directly influence conversion, order volume, merchant demand, and Dasher supply utilization, even small delays or failures can create marketplace-wide impact.

In this technical PM interview, you are being asked to define how you would approach improving the underlying product and platform experience for DashPass without assuming a single root cause.
