Product context: Uber is a mobility and delivery platform; its products include rides, Uber Eats, grocery and retail delivery, freight, driver and courier tools, and marketplace pricing.

You are the Technical PM for Uber One, Uber’s membership product spanning rides and delivery across global markets. The product experience depends on fast, reliable recognition of a member’s status and benefits across surfaces such as app launch, ride or order checkout, pricing, dispatch, support, renewal, cancellation, and post-trip adjustments.

The reliability and latency challenge is not limited to the rider or eater UI. Uber One promises can affect marketplace expectations for drivers and couriers as well, including demand shaping, offer quality, fee and discount application, ETA accuracy, and trust in the platform when member-facing benefits create downstream operational pressure.

In this interview, describe how you would approach improving reliability and latency for Uber One at global scale. Focus on the technical product requirements, system boundaries, APIs and data flows, operational constraints, rollout approach, and trade-offs between speed, correctness, user trust, marketplace health, and cost.

The experience should consider:

- Critical user journeys where Uber One eligibility, benefits, pricing, and membership state must be available with low latency and high correctness.

- Key systems and APIs involved, such as subscription status, identity, pricing, payments, dispatch, promotions, support, experimentation, and regional configuration.

- Reliability requirements across global markets, including availability targets, degradation behavior, retries, caching, consistency, and failure modes.

- Latency expectations by surface and workflow, including what must be synchronous versus asynchronous.

- Data privacy, security, fraud prevention, and entitlement correctness for membership and benefit decisions.

- Observability needs, including logs, traces, dashboards, alerts, SLOs, error budgets, and customer-impact metrics.

- Rollout and migration considerations, including phased launches, backwards compatibility, regional differences, incident response, and rollback.

- Product trade-offs involving member experience, driver/courier impact, marketplace liquidity, unit economics, and operational support load.

Your goal is to frame a technically rigorous product plan for making Uber One faster and more dependable worldwide, while showing how you would align engineering, data, operations, support, and marketplace teams around measurable reliability and latency outcomes.
