Problem Statement Description
You are the Technical PM for a marketplace trust platform used by enterprise teams to evaluate whether buyers, sellers, listings, transactions, or service providers are safe to engage with. These trust signals directly influence conversion: if the system is too strict, legitimate marketplace activity is blocked or delayed; if it is too lenient, enterprises lose confidence and reduce adoption.
Your task is to plan the reliability, privacy, and monitoring approach for this trust experience. The scope includes how trust-related services should behave under normal and degraded conditions, how sensitive user and business data should be protected, and how product and engineering teams should detect, diagnose, and respond to trust-impacting issues.
Assume the marketplace operates at meaningful scale, with multiple user types, automated decisioning or scoring, manual review workflows, third-party data dependencies, and enterprise customers who expect transparency, uptime, and compliance. You do not need to design the trust algorithm itself; focus on the technical product plan that makes the trust system dependable, privacy-conscious, observable, and safe to operate.
The experience should consider:
- Core trust workflows for enterprise teams, including onboarding, verification, risk review, transaction approval, dispute handling, and trust-status visibility.
- Reliability requirements such as availability, latency, failure modes, degradation behavior, incident response, and service-level expectations.
- Data requirements, including what sensitive information is collected, processed, retained, shared, masked, or deleted across systems and teams.
- Privacy and security constraints such as consent, access controls, auditability, regional compliance, data minimization, and protection against misuse.
- APIs, event pipelines, third-party integrations, and internal tools needed to support trust decisions without creating fragile dependencies.
- Monitoring and observability for trust outcomes, system health, data quality, model or rules performance, false positives, false negatives, and customer-impacting incidents.
- Rollout considerations such as phased launches, enterprise customer communication, operational readiness, support playbooks, and rollback paths.
- Product trade-offs between conversion, fraud prevention, user friction, explainability, operational cost, and enterprise trust.
The goal is to present a clear Technical PM plan that defines requirements, identifies risks, aligns product and engineering priorities, and explains how the marketplace can earn enterprise confidence while protecting users and maintaining conversion.
