Problem Statement Description
Product context: DoorDash is a local commerce and delivery platform; its products include restaurant delivery, DashPass, grocery and retail delivery, merchant tools, and dasher tools.
DoorDash wants to set the next quarterly roadmap for the Dasher App, with a focus on improving the experience for Dashers operating in suburban markets. These markets often have different delivery patterns than dense urban areas: longer distances, lower order density, variable parking and pickup times, batching trade-offs, and stronger competition from other delivery platforms and local fleets.
You are the product manager responsible for turning a broad set of potential Dasher App improvements into an executable quarterly plan. The roadmap should account for Dasher earnings and experience, delivery reliability, marketplace balance, merchant outcomes, customer expectations, and DoorDash’s unit economics.
This is an execution-focused discussion. Your task is not to design one feature in depth, but to show how you would prioritize, sequence, and operationalize a quarter’s worth of product work across teams while managing dependencies, launch risk, and measurable outcomes.
The experience should consider:
- The key Dasher workflows in suburban delivery, from accepting an offer to navigating pickup, completing drop-off, and deciding whether to continue dashing
- The most important pain points or opportunities to address within a single quarter
- How to evaluate and compare roadmap candidates using impact, urgency, effort, confidence, and strategic fit
- Owners and dependencies across product, engineering, design, data science, operations, support, logistics, and marketplace teams
- Sequencing of initiatives across discovery, build, experiment, rollout, and post-launch monitoring
- Go/no-go criteria, success metrics, guardrails, and rollback plans for roadmap items
- Communication needs for Dashers, merchants, support teams, and internal stakeholders
- Risks such as marketplace imbalance, lower Dasher trust, degraded customer delivery reliability, or negative unit economics
Your goal is to present a clear quarterly roadmap prioritization approach for the Dasher App that is realistic to execute, aligned with DoorDash’s marketplace goals, and specific to the needs of suburban Dashers.
