Problem Statement Description
You are the PM responsible for a developer platform used by partners and internal/external developers to integrate product capabilities into mobile-first experiences. The platform may include SDKs, APIs, documentation, sample apps, dashboards, webhooks, sandbox tools, and support workflows that help developers build, test, launch, and maintain integrations.
Engineering capacity is constrained, and multiple roadmap requests are competing for attention: improving SDK reliability, expanding API coverage, reducing onboarding friction, upgrading documentation, building better debugging tools, addressing compliance/security needs, supporting new mobile frameworks, and improving partner support. Your task is to prioritize what the team should build next in a way that improves integration success without overcommitting the organization.
This is an execution-focused discussion. You should frame how you would translate ambiguous platform needs into an actionable roadmap, decide sequencing, align stakeholders, manage dependencies, and define launch readiness. The emphasis is not on inventing a single feature, but on showing how you would make disciplined trade-offs and drive delivery under capacity constraints.
The experience should consider:
- The key developer segments, especially mobile-first developers, and where they struggle across discovery, onboarding, implementation, testing, launch, and maintenance.
- How to define and measure “integration success” across activation, time-to-first-successful-call, SDK adoption, error rates, launch completion, retention, and support burden.
- How to compare roadmap items using customer impact, business value, technical urgency, risk reduction, effort, dependencies, and reversibility.
- How to sequence work across quick wins, foundational platform investments, reliability fixes, and larger strategic bets.
- The operating plan: owners, engineering/design/docs/support dependencies, milestones, capacity allocation, and decision checkpoints.
- Go/no-go criteria for releases, including quality thresholds, documentation readiness, backward compatibility, privacy/security review, and developer support preparedness.
- Rollback or mitigation plans for SDK/API changes, failed launches, migration issues, or partner-facing regressions.
- Communication needs for internal stakeholders, external developers, partner teams, and support teams before, during, and after roadmap execution.
Your goal is to present a clear prioritization approach and execution plan that helps a limited-capacity team deliver the highest-leverage improvements to developer integration success while managing platform reliability, stakeholder expectations, and launch risk.
