Problem Statement Description
Product context: Stripe is financial infrastructure for internet businesses; its products include payments, Checkout, Billing, Connect, Radar, Issuing, Terminal, and tax tools.
Stripe Radar helps businesses detect and manage payment fraud, and developers are often responsible for integrating, monitoring, and tuning how fraud controls behave within the broader payments stack. This question asks you to redesign Radar’s mobile experience specifically for developers who may need to investigate fraud signals, review rule behavior, respond to urgent alerts, or understand payment-risk decisions while away from their primary workstation.
Focus on the developer workflow rather than simply shrinking the desktop dashboard onto a phone. Consider what developers need to know quickly, what actions are safe or risky on mobile, how they move between code, logs, payment details, rules, and team escalation, and how the experience should support confidence in high-stakes fraud and payment decisions.
Your design should account for Stripe’s broader environment: financial reliability, merchant trust, conversion impact, global payment flows, and the expectation that developer tools are precise, fast, and transparent. You do not need to design every screen, but you should define the core mobile use cases, user priorities, and product experience boundaries.
The experience should consider:
- The primary developer personas using Radar on mobile, such as on-call engineers, fraud tooling owners, or payment integration developers
- The most important mobile workflows, including alerts, investigation, rule review, payment-risk context, and escalation
- Friction in the current likely workflow, especially around navigating dense fraud data, understanding model or rule decisions, and taking action under time pressure
- What information must be visible immediately versus what can be deferred to desktop or deeper investigation
- How to balance developer control with safety, auditability, and the risk of accidental changes on mobile
- How the mobile experience should integrate with notifications, team handoffs, logs, APIs, and existing Stripe Dashboard behavior
- Trust, compliance, and reliability expectations for handling sensitive payment and fraud data on a mobile device
The goal is to describe a mobile Radar experience that helps developers quickly understand, triage, and respond to fraud-related issues without compromising payment reliability, merchant conversion, or operational safety.
