Problem Statement Description
You are being asked to describe a real example where you led an ambiguous product effort involving a pricing experimentation console used by account managers. The console likely supported workflows such as finding eligible customers or deals, setting up or monitoring pricing tests, interpreting experiment outcomes, and taking action with customers while balancing business impact, fairness, compliance, and operational efficiency.
The ambiguity may have come from unclear user needs, fragmented pricing data, inconsistent experiment definitions, conflicting stakeholder goals, limited tooling, or uncertainty around how account managers search for the right accounts, experiments, offers, or recommendations. The expected story should show how you brought structure to the problem, aligned cross-functional partners, and improved the ability of account managers to successfully search, discover, and act within the console.
This is a behavioral interview question, so the focus is not on designing the ideal console from scratch. The focus is on your leadership behavior: how you handled uncertainty, made decisions without perfect information, influenced teams, measured progress, and learned from the outcome.
The experience should consider:
- The business and user context: who the account managers were, what pricing experimentation tasks they needed to complete, and why search success mattered.
- The ambiguity you faced: unclear requirements, competing definitions of success, messy data, stakeholder disagreement, technical constraints, or operational risk.
- Your ownership role: what you personally drove versus what others owned, and how you created clarity.
- Cross-functional collaboration: how you worked with engineering, data science, design, sales/account teams, legal/compliance, finance, or pricing strategy.
- Evidence of impact: how search success or workflow effectiveness was defined, measured, and improved.
- Trade-offs and constraints: speed versus accuracy, experimentation flexibility versus governance, account-manager autonomy versus pricing controls.
- Reflection: what you would repeat, what you would change, and what the experience taught you about leading ambiguous product work.
The goal is to tell a concise, high-ownership story that demonstrates your ability to turn an underdefined product challenge into a measurable outcome for a specialized internal user group, while operating responsibly in a sensitive pricing and experimentation environment.
