What API and data model would support a new Creative Cloud workflow for enterprise teams at global scale

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Adobe is a creative, document, and marketing software company; its products include Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Adobe Express, Firefly, and Experience Cloud.

Adobe is exploring a new Creative Cloud workflow for enterprise teams that need to create, review, approve, localize, and distribute creative assets across global campaigns. The workflow may span designers, marketers, creative directors, legal reviewers, external agencies, and IT/admin teams working across Creative Cloud apps and enterprise systems.

Today, enterprise creative work often breaks across tools, file versions, comments, permissions, approval states, brand rules, and asset handoffs. The interview asks you to think like a Technical PM defining the API surface and underlying data model needed to support this workflow reliably at global scale, without prescribing the final product design.

Your scope should include how creative objects, collaborators, permissions, workflow states, comments, versions, approvals, AI-generated content metadata, and enterprise integrations could be represented and exchanged. You should also consider how this system would support large files, multi-region teams, compliance needs, observability, and extensibility for future Creative Cloud and marketing workflows.

The experience should consider:

- Core user workflows across creation, collaboration, review, approval, publishing, and archival

- Key entities and relationships in the data model, including assets, projects, versions, users, teams, roles, comments, tasks, approvals, and audit history

- API requirements for internal Adobe clients, third-party integrations, enterprise admins, and automation workflows

- Permissioning, identity, data residency, privacy, security, governance, and auditability for enterprise customers

- Reliability expectations for global scale, including latency, availability, sync behavior, conflict handling, and large-file performance

- Metadata needs such as brand compliance, rights management, usage restrictions, localization, and AI provenance

- Rollout, backward compatibility, migration from existing workflows, observability, and operational support

- Product trade-offs between flexibility, simplicity, performance, governance, and long-term platform extensibility

The goal is to describe the technical product requirements and system-facing product thinking needed to enable a trusted, scalable Creative Cloud enterprise workflow, while making clear assumptions, constraints, API boundaries, and data-model choices.
