Build a trust-focused improvement for Wishlists used by experience seekers

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Airbnb is a travel marketplace connecting guests and hosts; its products include stays, experiences, host tools, guest booking, trust and safety, payments, and reviews.

Airbnb Wishlists help travelers save, compare, and share potential stays and experiences as they plan a trip. For experience seekers—guests browsing activities, tours, classes, adventures, and local events—the decision often depends on trust signals beyond price and availability, such as host credibility, safety expectations, cancellation confidence, review quality, group fit, and whether the experience will still meet expectations by the time they book.

Design a trust-focused improvement to the Wishlist experience for these users. Focus on the planning workflow from discovering an experience, saving it, revisiting it later, comparing it with alternatives, discussing it with travel companions, and deciding whether to book. The improvement should address real friction or uncertainty in this journey without turning Wishlists into a full booking flow or duplicating the entire listing page.

Your scope is the Airbnb guest-side product experience for saved experiences. Consider how trust can be communicated, maintained, and acted on inside Wishlists while balancing marketplace quality, host fairness, user confidence, and Airbnb’s broader brand promise around safe, reliable travel.

The experience should consider:

- Who the primary experience seeker is, including solo travelers, couples, families, groups, or locals exploring activities

- What trust-related uncertainty appears after saving an experience and before booking

- How Wishlist users compare saved experiences across quality, safety, host reliability, reviews, availability, cancellation terms, and fit

- How trust signals should be surfaced without overwhelming inspiration, browsing, or trip-planning behavior

- How shared Wishlists and group decision-making may change trust needs

- How the product should handle stale, unavailable, poorly reviewed, or materially changed experiences

- What constraints exist in a two-sided marketplace where host reputation, guest expectations, and supply health all matter

- How success could be evaluated through user confidence, booking progression, reduced regret, and marketplace trust outcomes

The goal is to define a clear user problem and design a product experience that makes Wishlists more trustworthy for experience seekers, helping them move from saved interest to confident decision-making while preserving Airbnb’s discovery-oriented planning experience.
