Design a new feature in Pricing Tools that helps remote workers achieve better outcomes

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Airbnb is a travel marketplace connecting guests and hosts; its products include stays, experiences, host tools, guest booking, trust and safety, payments, and reviews.

Airbnb wants to improve its Pricing Tools with a new feature that helps remote workers achieve better outcomes when booking stays. Remote workers often have different needs from leisure travelers: longer trip durations, flexible check-in dates, budget predictability, reliable work setup, strong Wi-Fi, quiet environments, and the ability to compare trade-offs across locations and stay lengths.

Today, pricing on Airbnb can feel optimized around nightly or vacation-style stays, while remote workers may think in terms of monthly budgets, employer stipends, weekday productivity, tax or receipt needs, and total cost over time. Hosts also need pricing guidance that helps them attract longer-stay remote workers without hurting revenue, occupancy, or marketplace trust.

Design a feature within Airbnb Pricing Tools that addresses this segment’s workflow and pain points. The feature should fit into Airbnb’s marketplace dynamics, where guest affordability, host earnings, supply quality, cancellation risk, and competitive alternatives such as hotels, serviced apartments, and other travel platforms all matter.

The experience should consider:

- Who the primary user is for this feature: remote-worker guests, hosts pricing for remote workers, or both sides of the marketplace

- The end-to-end workflow from trip planning and price discovery to booking, stay management, and post-booking confidence

- How remote-worker needs differ across trip length, location flexibility, solo versus family travel, and company-sponsored versus self-funded travel

- What pricing information, comparisons, discounts, or controls would reduce uncertainty without overwhelming users

- How the feature could preserve host supply health, prevent misuse, and maintain trust in pricing fairness

- How Airbnb should handle global differences in currency, seasonality, regulations, long-stay policies, and competitive benchmarks

- What signals would indicate that the feature is improving outcomes for remote workers while not degrading host or marketplace quality

The goal is to define a clear product experience that makes Airbnb more useful and competitive for remote workers, while staying aligned with Airbnb’s marketplace model, trust standards, and pricing ecosystem.
