Problem Statement Description
Swiggy wants to improve the office lunch group ordering experience for people who regularly coordinate meals for their teams. These coordinators may be office admins, team leads, HR/business operations members, or informal “lunch captains” who collect preferences, manage budgets, place orders, track delivery, handle substitutions, and resolve payment or reimbursement issues.
Today, group ordering for office lunches can be stressful and repetitive: people join late, change their choices, forget to pay, choose restaurants with incompatible delivery times, or have dietary constraints that are hard to manage. Coordinators also need confidence that food will arrive together, on time, and with minimal follow-up, especially during peak lunch hours in Indian urban office areas.
Design a better product experience that makes group lunch ordering easier for coordinators and encourages teams to reorder through Swiggy more frequently. Focus on the end-to-end workflow from planning and inviting participants to checkout, delivery tracking, issue resolution, and repeat ordering.
The experience should consider:
- The coordinator’s workflow before, during, and after placing a group lunch order
- Participant needs such as menu discovery, dietary preferences, budget limits, payment, and order confirmation
- Restaurant constraints including preparation time, item availability, packaging, and large-order handling
- Delivery constraints such as batching, peak-hour reliability, office address complexity, and arrival coordination
- Repeat-order behavior, including how teams remember past orders, preferred restaurants, budgets, and participants
- Trust, transparency, and communication when items are delayed, unavailable, split, or delivered separately
- Privacy, accessibility, and simplicity for both frequent coordinators and occasional participants
- Business and operational trade-offs such as discounts, support load, restaurant burden, and delivery reliability
Your goal is to define a user-centered group ordering experience for Swiggy office lunch coordinators that reduces coordination friction, improves confidence in successful delivery, and creates clear reasons for teams to use the experience repeatedly.
