Design a live event discovery for fleet coordinators that improves handoff quality

Problem Statement Description

Fleet coordinators manage active vehicles, drivers, routes, service commitments, and exceptions across changing shifts. During a handoff, the outgoing coordinator needs to communicate what is happening now, what is at risk, what has already been handled, and what requires follow-up. Today, that context may be scattered across dispatch tools, maps, driver messages, incident logs, customer updates, and personal notes.

Design a live event discovery experience that helps fleet coordinators identify the most relevant operational events in real time and transfer high-quality context to the next coordinator. The focus is not just on showing events, but on helping coordinators understand priority, ownership, status, dependencies, and what action may be needed after the handoff.

Assume this product is used in an operations environment where coordinators may oversee many vehicles at once, work under time pressure, and need high trust in system information. The experience should account for both routine shift changes and urgent handoffs during disruptions such as delays, breakdowns, reroutes, driver availability issues, weather events, facility bottlenecks, or customer escalations.

The experience should consider:

- The primary users involved in the handoff workflow, including outgoing coordinators, incoming coordinators, dispatch managers, and potentially drivers or support teams

- What qualifies as a “live event” and how events are discovered, prioritized, grouped, filtered, and kept current

- The coordinator workflow before, during, and after a shift handoff

- Pain points such as missed context, stale updates, duplicate communication, unclear ownership, notification overload, and difficulty distinguishing urgent issues from noise

- How the product supports trust, auditability, and confidence in operational data

- How handoff quality should be reflected in the user experience without forcing excessive manual documentation

- Accessibility, global operations, varying fleet sizes, and different levels of coordinator experience

- Constraints around real-time data accuracy, integrations with existing fleet systems, communication tools, and operational reliability

Your goal is to define a product experience that improves the completeness, clarity, and actionability of fleet handoffs while fitting naturally into a high-pressure coordination workflow.
