Amazon is planning a major Prime launch aimed at grocery shoppers, such as a new Prime grocery benefit, expansion, or high-demand promotional event. This is a guesstimate exercise, not a system design or launch plan. The focus is on defining the scope clearly, choosing the right units of demand, sizing the main load drivers, and making transparent assumptions. You may estimate digital infrastructure load, fulfillment and delivery operations, or both, as long as you explain what is included and excluded.

Your estimate should reflect Amazon’s context: a large Prime member base, high customer expectations for speed and reliability, grocery-specific constraints like inventory freshness and delivery windows, and the risk of demand spikes during a high-visibility launch.

The experience should consider:

- The launch scope: geography, duration, eligible Prime members, grocery categories, and whether this is delivery, pickup, or both

- The target population and adoption funnel: awareness, Prime eligibility, grocery shopper penetration, trial rate, and repeat usage

- The key demand units: visitors, sessions, searches, carts, checkouts, orders, items per order, delivery slots, and support contacts

- Frequency and peak load: average daily demand versus launch-day or peak-hour spikes

- Infrastructure load drivers: app/web traffic, search, recommendations, inventory availability, checkout, payments, notifications, and customer service systems

- Operational load drivers: warehouse picking, packing, cold-chain handling, delivery capacity, driver routing, substitutions, refunds, and support staffing

- Assumptions and sensitivity: which assumptions most change the estimate and how the answer would vary under conservative, base, and aggressive demand scenarios

- Sanity checks: comparison to known grocery shopping behavior, Prime usage patterns, fulfillment capacity limits, and whether the resulting estimate feels operationally feasible

The goal is to produce a defensible, well-structured estimate that shows how you break down a large ambiguous launch into measurable demand, translate customer behavior into infrastructure and operational load, and identify the assumptions that matter most for Amazon’s readiness.
