Redesign local delivery experience so marketplace sellers can complete their main job faster

Problem Statement Description

Marketplace sellers rely on local delivery to complete a core fulfillment workflow: getting sold items from their location to nearby buyers quickly, reliably, and with minimal manual coordination. Today, that workflow may involve checking delivery eligibility, comparing options, scheduling pickup/drop-off, coordinating with buyers or couriers, tracking status, handling failed attempts, and resolving disputes—often while managing multiple orders and listings.

Your task is to redesign the local delivery experience so sellers can complete their main job faster. Focus on the seller’s end-to-end workflow and the moments where friction, uncertainty, repeated decisions, or operational overhead slow them down. The design should account for both casual sellers fulfilling occasional orders and higher-volume sellers who need predictable, scalable fulfillment.

This is a product design question, so the emphasis is on identifying the right user problem, defining the seller journey, prioritizing pain points, and shaping an experience that improves speed without sacrificing reliability, trust, or buyer satisfaction.

The experience should consider:

- Seller workflows before, during, and after a local delivery order is created

- Friction around delivery eligibility, pricing, scheduling, pickup coordination, and tracking

- Differences between low-volume sellers, power sellers, and sellers with time-sensitive or bulky items

- Reliability issues such as courier no-shows, failed deliveries, cancellations, disputes, and unclear handoff proof

- Communication needs between seller, buyer, courier, and marketplace support

- Operational constraints such as local coverage, courier supply, item restrictions, fraud risk, and service-level expectations

- Accessibility, clarity, and low-effort design for sellers using mobile devices while multitasking

- Metrics or signals that would indicate sellers are completing fulfillment faster and with fewer delivery-related issues

The goal is to define a redesigned seller-facing local delivery experience that reduces time-to-fulfillment, improves seller confidence, and preserves marketplace trust across buyers, sellers, and delivery partners.
