Build a trust-focused improvement for Wrapped used by audiobook listeners at global scale

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Spotify is an audio streaming company; its products include music, podcasts, audiobooks, playlists, recommendations, creator tools, subscriptions, and ads.

Spotify Wrapped is a highly visible, personalized year-in-review experience that users often share publicly and use to reflect on their listening identity. As Spotify expands beyond music into audiobooks, Wrapped must represent audiobook listening in a way that feels accurate, fair, and respectful across different listening behaviors, markets, languages, and content formats.

Design a trust-focused improvement for audiobook listeners within Wrapped. The core challenge is not simply adding audiobook stats, but helping users understand and believe what Wrapped says about their audiobook habits—especially when listening can involve partial completion, replays, samples, family/shared devices, speed changes, offline listening, and cross-device sessions.

Your work should focus on the end-to-end user experience for audiobook listeners at global scale: how they encounter the feature, how audiobook insights are explained, how users can resolve confusion or perceived inaccuracies, and how Spotify balances delight, transparency, privacy, and shareability. Consider that Wrapped is a seasonal, high-traffic moment where mistakes can damage trust quickly and support channels may be constrained.

The experience should consider:

- The specific audiobook listener segments you are designing for, such as casual samplers, completion-focused readers, genre loyalists, parents, commuters, or multilingual listeners.

- The moments in the Wrapped flow where audiobook data may feel surprising, sensitive, incomplete, or misleading.

- How the experience should handle listening behaviors unique to audiobooks, including completion, duration, skipped chapters, playback speed, rereads, samples, and abandoned books.

- What level of transparency users need about how insights are calculated without making the experience overly technical or less delightful.

- How global differences in audiobook availability, pricing models, localization, and cultural expectations may affect trust.

- Privacy and sharing considerations, especially for sensitive genres, children’s books, self-help, health, religion, or other personal content.

- How this improvement fits into Spotify’s broader ecosystem of personalization, discovery, creator relationships, and retention.

- What constraints may apply during a Wrapped launch, including data freshness, scale, client compatibility, support burden, and public scrutiny.

Your goal is to define a product experience that makes audiobook listeners feel accurately represented and in control, while preserving the emotional, personalized, and shareable nature of Spotify Wrapped.
