Problem Statement Description
Product context: LinkedIn is Microsoft's professional network; its products include profiles, feed, jobs, recruiting, LinkedIn Learning, sales tools, messaging, and ads.
LinkedIn Premium is considering a migration that affects creators who use Premium to build professional visibility, understand audience engagement, access insights, message relevant people, and grow their network. You are asked to design a phased migration plan that preserves trust and continuity for these users while moving them from the current Premium experience to a new or updated Premium experience.
Assume the migration touches active creator workflows such as profile optimization, content performance insights, audience discovery, messaging, learning, and subscription entitlements. The challenge is not to design the new Premium product itself, but to plan how LinkedIn should roll it out safely across user segments, markets, platforms, and subscription states without causing confusion, loss of value, billing surprises, or creator disruption.
Your answer should focus on execution: how you would structure the rollout, coordinate teams, sequence dependencies, monitor risk, and decide whether to expand, pause, or roll back. Consider LinkedIn’s need to maintain professional trust, protect identity quality, and avoid harming network effects or B2B monetization while making the migration operationally successful.
The experience should consider:
- Which creator cohorts, subscription tiers, geographies, and platforms should be included or excluded at each phase
- Dependencies across product, engineering, data, design, customer support, trust, billing, marketing, sales, and legal/compliance teams
- Go/no-go criteria for each phase, including user experience, technical stability, subscription integrity, and business impact
- Communication plans for affected creators, including timing, messaging, in-product education, and support escalation paths
- Instrumentation needed to detect migration issues, entitlement gaps, churn risk, engagement drops, or trust-related complaints
- Rollback, remediation, and grandfathering considerations if users lose access, see incorrect pricing, or experience broken workflows
- Launch risks such as creator backlash, billing disputes, reduced content creation, support volume spikes, or inconsistent cross-platform behavior
The goal is to demonstrate how you would lead a controlled, measurable, user-safe migration for a high-trust subscription product at LinkedIn, balancing execution speed with creator experience, operational readiness, and long-term Premium business health.
