Problem Statement Description
Relocating renters using a real estate marketplace often make high-stakes decisions without being able to physically inspect every property or understand the local market. They face fake or stale listings, confusing rent and fee structures, aggressive or unresponsive brokers, and limited context about commute, safety, amenities, and neighborhood fit.
Design an MVP for a rental home search experience that helps these users identify trustworthy properties and generate qualified property leads, while balancing marketplace realities such as broker incentives, listing freshness, verification costs, and operational complexity. The MVP should focus on the renter journey from search and shortlisting through inquiry, broker interaction, and confidence to proceed.
Assume the product operates in a competitive real estate marketplace where supply may come from owners, brokers, or aggregators, and where not all listing information can be verified instantly. Your design should define what problems to prioritize first, what user trust signals matter most, and how the experience can reduce wasted time for both renters and legitimate supply-side participants.
The experience should consider:
- How relocating renters discover, compare, and shortlist rental homes when they lack local knowledge
- How the product handles fake, duplicate, stale, or misleading listings without creating excessive operational burden
- How rent, deposits, brokerage fees, maintenance charges, and hidden costs are presented clearly
- How broker or owner communication should work to reduce spam, pressure, missed calls, and low-quality leads
- What locality context is most useful for decision-making, such as commute, transport, schools, safety, amenities, and lifestyle fit
- How trust, privacy, accessibility, and data quality should be reflected in the renter-facing experience
- What should be included in the MVP versus deferred for later iterations, given cost and verification constraints
Your goal is to define a focused MVP product experience that improves renter confidence, reduces friction in the rental search journey, and increases the quality of property inquiries without assuming unlimited data, manual operations, or perfect broker behavior.
