Problem Statement Description
Product context: Amazon is a commerce, logistics, media, devices, and cloud company; its products include Marketplace, Prime, Prime Video, Alexa devices, ads, fulfillment, and AWS.
Amazon Prime’s delivery promise depends on new delivery partners becoming productive, compliant, and confident quickly. In this product design question, you are asked to improve the onboarding experience for delivery partners who support Prime deliveries, from initial enrollment through readiness for their first successful delivery shift or route.
Consider the workflow for a new partner entering a high-velocity logistics environment: account creation, identity and eligibility checks, vehicle or device requirements, training, safety and compliance, app setup, scheduling, route expectations, station handoff, and early support. The experience must reduce confusion and operational friction without compromising reliability, safety, or the Prime customer promise.
This is a hard product design problem because the onboarding experience affects multiple users and systems: individual drivers, delivery service partners, station operations teams, support teams, and end customers expecting fast, dependable delivery. Your scope should be clear about which partner type and onboarding stage you are prioritizing, while acknowledging constraints such as scale, regional regulations, seasonal demand spikes, and operational accuracy.
The experience should consider:
- The primary delivery partner persona, their motivations, constraints, digital comfort, language needs, and work context.
- The end-to-end onboarding journey, including enrollment, verification, training, equipment readiness, scheduling, and first-route confidence.
- Points where partners may drop off, get delayed, repeat steps, or require manual support.
- How the product communicates progress, next actions, requirements, exceptions, and consequences.
- Operational dependencies across background checks, compliance, station readiness, route assignment, and support escalation.
- Trust, safety, privacy, fraud prevention, and regulatory requirements.
- How the experience helps partners deliver to Prime standards without overwhelming them.
- Success signals that indicate a partner is ready, active, and likely to perform reliably.
The goal is to define a focused product experience that makes onboarding faster, clearer, and more dependable for delivery partners while protecting customer experience, operational quality, and Amazon’s ability to scale Prime delivery capacity.
