Redesign the mobile experience of Dynamics for IT leaders

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Microsoft is a productivity, software, AI, gaming, and cloud company; its products include Windows, Microsoft 365, Teams, LinkedIn, Xbox, Azure, Dynamics, and Copilot.

Microsoft Dynamics is a mission-critical enterprise platform used across sales, service, finance, operations, and customer workflows. IT leaders are responsible for keeping these systems reliable, secure, compliant, integrated, and aligned with business needs, often while coordinating with business owners, admins, security teams, vendors, and Microsoft support.

The mobile experience for this audience is not simply a smaller version of the desktop admin or analytics experience. IT leaders may be away from their desk when they need to approve an urgent change, investigate a service degradation, review security or compliance alerts, monitor adoption, respond to an executive question, or coordinate an incident across teams. The redesign should focus on the high-stakes, time-sensitive workflows that matter most on mobile.

For this product design exercise, define the target IT leader persona, clarify their mobile jobs-to-be-done, identify the most important pain points in the current enterprise workflow, and propose what the Dynamics mobile experience should support. Consider how the experience fits within Microsoft’s broader ecosystem, including identity, security, Teams, Power Platform, Azure, and enterprise administration patterns.

The experience should consider:

- The core mobile workflows for CIOs, IT directors, Dynamics administrators, and platform owners

- How users triage alerts, incidents, approvals, adoption issues, integrations, and compliance risks while on the go

- The right level of information density for executive oversight versus operational drill-down

- Trust, security, permissions, auditability, and enterprise compliance expectations

- Cross-product handoffs with Teams, Outlook, Azure, Power Platform, and Microsoft admin tools

- Personalization by role, business unit, geography, tenant, and system criticality

- Offline, low-connectivity, notification fatigue, and urgent escalation scenarios

- How success would be measured for productivity, responsiveness, reliability, and user confidence

The goal is to design a mobile Dynamics experience that helps IT leaders stay informed, take timely action, and coordinate enterprise-critical decisions without requiring full desktop access, while preserving Microsoft’s standards for security, compliance, and enterprise trust.
