Problem Statement Description
Product context: Google is a consumer technology, ads, AI, and cloud company; its products include Search, YouTube, Android, Maps, Gmail, Chrome, Google Play, Workspace, and Google Cloud.
Google’s Gemini is increasingly used by advertisers to support campaign planning, audience research, creative exploration, copy generation, asset variation, and performance analysis. For advertisers, trust is critical because Gemini’s outputs can influence brand messaging, budget allocation, compliance decisions, and customer-facing creative across large-scale campaigns.
In this product design question, you are being asked to design a trust-focused improvement for advertisers using Gemini. The user may include brand marketers, agency strategists, media buyers, creative teams, performance marketers, or advertising operations specialists who need confidence that AI-generated recommendations are accurate, brand-safe, explainable, privacy-aware, and usable within real campaign workflows.
The focus is not simply to add a generic “trust” feature, but to identify where advertiser confidence breaks down in the Gemini experience and design a product improvement that helps advertisers evaluate, control, verify, or safely use Gemini’s outputs before acting on them.
The experience should consider:
- The advertiser workflow Gemini supports, such as campaign ideation, creative generation, audience insights, keyword planning, reporting, or optimization
- Moments where advertisers may hesitate to trust AI outputs, including factual accuracy, hallucinations, unclear sourcing, brand safety, policy compliance, or performance claims
- Differences between small businesses, large brands, agencies, and regulated-industry advertisers
- How Gemini should communicate confidence, limitations, rationale, provenance, or recommended next steps without overwhelming the user
- How advertisers can review, approve, edit, escalate, or reject Gemini-generated suggestions before they enter live campaigns
- Privacy and responsible AI expectations, especially around customer data, targeting signals, and personalization
- How the improvement fits within Google’s broader ads ecosystem and advertiser tools
- Success indicators that would show advertisers are gaining confidence while avoiding unsafe automation or blind reliance
Your goal is to frame the advertiser trust problem clearly, choose a specific user and workflow, identify the highest-friction trust gap, and describe a product experience that makes Gemini more credible, controllable, and useful for advertisers without compromising responsibility, privacy, or campaign quality.
