Build a trust-focused improvement for Sales Navigator used by learning users at global scale

Problem Statement Description

Product context: LinkedIn is Microsoft's professional network; its products include profiles, feed, jobs, recruiting, LinkedIn Learning, sales tools, messaging, and ads.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator helps sales professionals identify, research, and engage prospects using LinkedIn’s professional network. In this question, focus on “learning users”: people who are still developing their sales skills, learning a new market, onboarding into a sales role, or trying to understand how to use Sales Navigator effectively and responsibly.

Design a trust-focused product improvement for these users at global scale. The core challenge is not simply to make prospecting faster, but to help newer or learning-oriented users build confidence in the information they see, understand appropriate outreach behavior, avoid misuse of professional identity data, and form habits that preserve trust across LinkedIn’s network.

Consider the end-to-end workflow: a user enters Sales Navigator with a sales goal, searches for accounts or leads, evaluates profile and company information, saves leads, learns from signals or recommendations, and decides whether and how to reach out. Your design should address moments where uncertainty, data quality concerns, over-automation, poor personalization, or unclear norms can reduce trust for buyers, sellers, and LinkedIn.

The experience should consider:

- Who the learning users are, how their needs differ from expert sellers, and what “trust” means for them in Sales Navigator.

- Key workflow friction points where users may misinterpret signals, over-message prospects, rely on weak data, or feel unsure about next steps.

- How the product can support confidence, transparency, education, and responsible action without slowing down legitimate sales work.

- Global scale considerations, including language, regional norms, professional etiquette, privacy expectations, and varying sales maturity.

- How the improvement fits within LinkedIn’s professional identity, network effects, skill graph, and B2B monetization context.

- Trade-offs between guidance and autonomy, personalization and privacy, growth and trust, and beginner support versus power-user efficiency.

- What success would look like from the perspective of learning users, prospects, sales teams, and LinkedIn’s ecosystem.

Your goal is to frame a clear product opportunity, define the target user and trust problem, and describe a coherent product experience that improves learning users’ ability to use Sales Navigator effectively and responsibly without prescribing a one-size-fits-all solution.
