Improve onboarding in Jobs for sales teams at global scale

Problem Statement Description

Product context: LinkedIn is Microsoft's professional network; its products include profiles, feed, jobs, recruiting, LinkedIn Learning, sales tools, messaging, and ads.

LinkedIn Jobs helps companies attract and hire talent, but onboarding can be especially complex for global sales teams that need to hire across regions, seniority levels, industries, languages, and compensation models. In this interview, you are asked to design improvements to the onboarding experience for sales teams using LinkedIn Jobs at global scale.

Consider the end-to-end workflow for a sales organization adopting or expanding its use of LinkedIn Jobs: setting up employer access, defining sales roles, aligning recruiters and hiring managers, creating job posts, targeting relevant candidates, managing inbound applicants, and measuring hiring progress. The experience must reduce friction for distributed teams while preserving trust, candidate quality, and LinkedIn’s professional network standards.

This is a product design problem, not a go-to-market or sales enablement exercise. Focus on the product experience for the users involved, the pain points they face during onboarding, and how LinkedIn Jobs could better support them without assuming a single market, company size, or hiring process.

The experience should consider:

- Primary users such as sales leaders, recruiters, hiring managers, talent operations teams, and admins

- Differences between SMB, mid-market, and enterprise sales organizations

- Global hiring needs, including localization, regional role definitions, compliance expectations, and market-specific candidate supply

- Friction in creating accurate sales job posts, setting targeting criteria, and communicating role expectations

- Collaboration workflows between recruiters and distributed sales managers

- Integration or handoff points with ATS, HRIS, internal approval, and reporting systems

- Trust and quality concerns such as duplicate postings, misleading roles, spammy outreach, and poor candidate fit

- Success indicators that show whether onboarding is helping teams become productive and hire effectively

Your goal is to frame the user problem clearly, identify the most important onboarding gaps, and propose a product experience that helps global sales teams get value from LinkedIn Jobs faster while maintaining quality for employers, candidates, and the broader LinkedIn ecosystem.
