Build a trust-focused improvement for Workspace used by advertisers

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Google is a consumer technology, ads, AI, and cloud company; its products include Search, YouTube, Android, Maps, Gmail, Chrome, Google Play, Workspace, and Google Cloud.

Design a trust-focused improvement for Google Workspace for advertisers who use tools like Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet, and Chat to plan, approve, launch, and analyze campaigns. These users may include brand marketers, media buyers, creative agencies, account managers, legal reviewers, analytics teams, and external partners collaborating across organizations.

Advertising workflows often involve sensitive campaign budgets, audience strategies, creative assets, performance data, client approvals, and deadlines. Trust can break down when teams are unsure who has access, whether a file or metric is current, whether an AI-generated suggestion is reliable, whether external partners can see confidential information, or whether approvals and changes are traceable.

Your task is to frame a product design opportunity within Workspace that improves trust for advertisers without disrupting fast-moving collaboration. The improvement should fit Google’s broader ecosystem, respect privacy and enterprise expectations, and support both small teams and global advertisers working across agencies, platforms, and markets.

The experience should consider:

- The core advertiser workflow where trust issues are most painful, such as campaign planning, creative review, budget approvals, reporting, or cross-company collaboration.

- The primary users and stakeholders, including advertisers, agencies, legal/compliance teams, executives, and external vendors.

- What “trust” means in this context: data accuracy, permission confidence, provenance, transparency, accountability, privacy, brand safety, or approval integrity.

- Current Workspace friction points around file sharing, version control, comments, access visibility, AI assistance, meeting follow-ups, or handoffs between tools.

- How the experience should support collaboration across organizations while reducing accidental exposure of sensitive campaign information.

- How advertisers would understand, adopt, and repeatedly use the improvement during time-sensitive campaign cycles.

- Constraints around enterprise security, user privacy, auditability, AI responsibility, interoperability, and global scale.

The goal is to define a clear user problem, identify the advertiser segment and workflow you are optimizing for, and design a Workspace experience that meaningfully increases confidence, transparency, and control in advertising collaboration.
