Design a new feature in Maps that helps enterprise admins achieve better outcomes

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Google is a consumer technology, ads, AI, and cloud company; its products include Search, YouTube, Android, Maps, Gmail, Chrome, Google Play, Workspace, and Google Cloud.

Enterprise admins often support location-dependent workflows across large organizations: managing offices, stores, campuses, warehouses, service areas, employee travel, customer visits, or internal location data used by teams. In Google Maps, these admins may need better ways to configure, monitor, and improve how employees or business users interact with places, routes, saved locations, and operational location information.

Today, enterprise location workflows can be fragmented across admin consoles, spreadsheets, business profile tools, fleet or field-service systems, and individual employee Maps usage. Admins may struggle to keep location data accurate, enforce policies, understand usage or outcomes, support privacy requirements, and help distributed teams make better location-based decisions at scale.

Design a new Google Maps feature for enterprise admins that improves a meaningful business outcome without compromising user trust, data quality, or Maps’ consumer-grade simplicity. The feature should fit naturally within the Google Maps ecosystem and account for enterprise needs such as permissions, reporting, compliance, and multi-location management.

The experience should consider:

- Which enterprise admin persona you are designing for, such as IT admin, operations manager, facilities lead, retail location manager, or field-service administrator

- The core admin workflow before, during, and after using Maps

- The business outcome being improved, such as accuracy, productivity, safety, cost control, customer experience, or operational visibility

- How admins configure settings, manage users or locations, and monitor results

- How employees, customers, or end users are affected by the admin-managed experience

- Privacy, security, data governance, and role-based access expectations for enterprise use

- How the feature handles scale across regions, teams, languages, and many physical locations

- How success could be observed through product behavior and admin-relevant outcomes

The goal is to frame and design a focused Maps feature that addresses a real enterprise admin pain point, supports a clear workflow, and balances enterprise control with the reliability, usability, and trust expectations of Google Maps.
