Design a better Amazon Shopping experience for Prime members

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Amazon is a commerce, logistics, media, devices, and cloud company; its products include Marketplace, Prime, Prime Video, Alexa devices, ads, fulfillment, and AWS.

Amazon Prime members already receive benefits such as fast shipping, deals, returns, entertainment, and convenience, but the core shopping journey can still feel fragmented, overwhelming, or insufficiently personalized. Your task is to design a better Amazon Shopping experience specifically for Prime members, focusing on how their membership should make discovering, evaluating, buying, receiving, and managing purchases feel meaningfully easier.

Consider the end-to-end Prime shopping workflow: a customer opens Amazon with an intent or need, searches or browses across a large catalog, compares options, checks delivery promises, evaluates price and trust signals, completes checkout, tracks delivery, and may need returns or support. The experience should account for the expectations Prime members have around speed, reliability, value, exclusivity, and low-friction service.

This is a product design exercise, not a request to redesign all of Amazon. You should define which Prime member segment and shopping scenario you are prioritizing, identify the key pain points in that journey, and propose a product experience that fits Amazon’s commerce, logistics, and membership ecosystem.

The experience should consider:

- How Prime members’ needs differ from non-Prime shoppers across discovery, purchase, delivery, and post-purchase moments

- Friction caused by too many choices, unclear delivery timing, inconsistent benefit visibility, or difficulty finding the best Prime-eligible option

- How trust, reviews, pricing, seller quality, returns, and delivery reliability influence purchase confidence

- How the experience should surface Prime-specific value without feeling like advertising or clutter

- How personalization could support repeat purchases, household needs, subscriptions, deals, or urgent shopping missions

- How the design fits Amazon’s strengths in selection, convenience, logistics, and customer obsession

- How success could be evaluated through customer behavior, satisfaction, retention, and shopping efficiency

Your goal is to define a focused product opportunity and describe a better Prime shopping experience that improves customer value and reinforces why the membership is worth using regularly.
