Problem Statement Description
Product context: Apple is a consumer hardware, software, and services company; its products include iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, iOS, App Store, iCloud, Apple Music, and Apple TV+.
Apple TV+ is a premium subscription entertainment service inside Apple’s broader hardware, software, and services ecosystem. For this product design question, consider how Apple TV+ could introduce a new feature that creates meaningful value for developers while preserving the high-quality, privacy-conscious viewing experience expected by Apple customers.
The target users are developers who build apps, games, interactive experiences, companion utilities, or content-related services across Apple platforms and want better outcomes such as discovery, engagement, conversion, retention, or learning from user behavior. Their current workflow may involve fragmented surfaces across Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, App Store, and web; limited feedback on what drives engagement; and strict expectations around privacy, content quality, and brand fit.
Your task is to define the user problem clearly, identify which developer segment you are designing for, and propose a feature that belongs naturally within or adjacent to the Apple TV+ experience. The design should account for both sides of the experience: developers trying to achieve measurable outcomes, and viewers who should not feel interrupted, tracked, or pushed into low-quality experiences.
The experience should consider:
- The specific developer persona and outcome being optimized, such as discovery, activation, engagement, monetization, or retention
- Where the feature fits in the Apple TV+ viewer journey, including browsing, watching, post-watch, search, profiles, or cross-device continuation
- How developers would onboard, configure, measure, or manage the feature without excessive operational burden
- Privacy-by-design constraints, including data minimization, consent, aggregation, and avoiding invasive targeting
- Apple’s premium UX bar, accessibility expectations, content moderation needs, and trust standards
- Integration with Apple ecosystem surfaces such as tvOS, iOS, App Store, Apple ID, subscriptions, notifications, or developer tools
- Trade-offs between helping developers achieve outcomes and protecting viewer attention, subscription value, and Apple TV+ brand quality
The goal is to design a credible Apple-quality feature that improves developer outcomes in a measurable way while strengthening, not diluting, the Apple TV+ experience for consumers.
