Improve onboarding in AppExchange for support agents

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Salesforce is an enterprise CRM and cloud software company; its products include Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Commerce Cloud, Data Cloud, Einstein AI, Tableau, and Slack.

Salesforce AppExchange is a marketplace where organizations discover, evaluate, install, and adopt apps, components, and integrations that extend Salesforce workflows. In this question, focus on support agents who work in service environments and may need AppExchange solutions to improve case handling, knowledge access, routing, productivity, collaboration, reporting, or AI-assisted workflows.

Your task is to improve the onboarding experience for support agents using AppExchange. Consider that these users may not be Salesforce administrators, may have limited time between customer interactions, and may depend on permissions, configuration, training, and manager approval before an app becomes useful in their day-to-day workflow.

The problem is not just helping a user find an app. It includes the full early experience from awareness and discovery through understanding relevance, getting access, learning what changes in their support workflow, and reaching a first successful use. The design should reflect Salesforce’s enterprise context, where trust, data access, compliance, integration quality, and adoption across teams matter.

The experience should consider:

- The support agent’s workflow before, during, and after interacting with AppExchange

- Friction in discovering apps relevant to service and support use cases

- Differences between agents, team leads, admins, and operations stakeholders in the onboarding journey

- Permissioning, installation dependencies, data access, and enterprise trust concerns

- How agents understand what an app does, how it fits into Service Cloud or related tools, and what action to take next

- Time-to-value, guided setup, training, and first successful task completion

- Signals that the onboarding experience is working, such as activation, usage, task completion, and reduced support burden

- Edge cases such as low technical confidence, restricted permissions, multi-org environments, or regulated customer data

Your goal is to frame the user problem clearly, identify the most important onboarding pain points, define the target users and their jobs to be done, and propose a product experience direction that improves adoption and confidence without compromising enterprise trust or workflow reliability.
