Problem Statement Description
Warehouse managers oversee fast-moving operations across shifts, zones, roles, and exception queues, often with limited time to understand what their teams are working on, where bottlenecks are forming, and which updates require attention. They may rely on dashboards, floor walks, radio messages, spreadsheets, labor-management systems, and supervisor updates, but these signals can be fragmented, delayed, or too noisy to act on quickly.
Design a content recommendation feed for warehouse managers that improves team visibility. The feed should help managers discover and prioritize relevant operational updates, team activity, performance signals, safety notes, staffing changes, escalations, and cross-shift context without overwhelming them or distracting from real-time floor execution.
Assume the product is used in a warehouse environment with multiple teams, shifts, devices, and operational systems. The experience should account for managers who need quick scanning, drill-down detail, timely alerts, and confidence that recommended content is accurate, fair, and actionable.
The experience should consider:
- The primary warehouse manager workflows before, during, and after a shift
- What “team visibility” means across people, tasks, zones, exceptions, performance, safety, and handoffs
- The types of content or signals that could appear in the feed and how relevance should be determined
- How managers distinguish urgent operational issues from informational updates
- How the feed supports different warehouse contexts, such as inbound, outbound, picking, packing, returns, or inventory control
- Trust, explainability, and avoidance of biased or misleading recommendations about team members
- Device and environment constraints, including mobile use, shared workstations, gloves, noise, interruptions, and limited attention
- Permissions, privacy, and appropriate visibility into employee-level or team-level information
Your goal is to define a clear product experience that helps warehouse managers stay informed, coordinate teams, and act faster, while balancing operational urgency, information overload, employee trust, and measurable improvement in visibility.
