Problem Statement Description
Product context: Salesforce is an enterprise CRM and cloud software company; its products include Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Commerce Cloud, Data Cloud, Einstein AI, Tableau, and Slack.
Salesforce wants to rethink the mobile experience for MuleSoft with a specific focus on CIOs of large, global enterprises. These leaders are accountable for integration strategy, API reliability, data access, governance, security, and business continuity across regions, business units, and technology stacks. Unlike daily MuleSoft builders or operations teams, CIOs need a mobile experience that helps them stay informed, make time-sensitive decisions, and understand enterprise-wide impact without being pulled into unnecessary implementation detail.
Today, a CIO’s MuleSoft-related workflow may span executive dashboards, incident escalations, transformation program reviews, compliance concerns, vendor comparisons, and stakeholder updates. On mobile, this creates friction: information may be too technical, fragmented across tools, delayed, hard to trust, or not clearly tied to business outcomes such as revenue operations, customer experience, productivity, and risk reduction.
Your task is to define what a redesigned MuleSoft mobile experience should support for CIOs operating at global scale within the broader Salesforce ecosystem. Consider how the experience should fit into an executive’s day, how it should handle urgency versus routine review, and how it should balance visibility, control, trust, and simplicity in a highly regulated enterprise environment.
The experience should consider:
- The core CIO user journeys on mobile, including monitoring, escalation, governance, strategic review, and executive communication.
- How to translate complex integration, API, and automation health into decision-useful executive views.
- Differences between global, regional, and business-unit-level visibility, permissions, and accountability.
- Mobile-specific constraints such as limited attention, secure access, notifications, offline or travel scenarios, and quick comprehension.
- Enterprise trust requirements, including privacy, security, auditability, compliance, and role-based access.
- How the experience connects with Salesforce’s broader CRM, workflow, AI, and collaboration ecosystem.
- How CIOs evaluate value, reliability, and differentiation versus enterprise platforms such as Microsoft, Oracle, ServiceNow, Snowflake, Zendesk, and others.
- What trade-offs exist between giving CIOs actionable control and avoiding overwhelming them with operational detail.
The goal is to frame a high-quality product design proposal that identifies the right CIO problems to solve, defines the mobile experience scope, clarifies the most important workflows and constraints, and explains how success would be recognized without jumping directly into implementation details.
