Build a trust-focused improvement for Wishlists used by experience seekers at global scale

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Airbnb is a travel marketplace connecting guests and hosts; its products include stays, experiences, host tools, guest booking, trust and safety, payments, and reviews.

Airbnb Wishlists help travelers collect and compare places and activities before they are ready to book. For experience seekers planning trips globally, Wishlists often act as a shared planning space where they save potential experiences, revisit them across sessions, and make decisions with friends, family, or travel companions.

In this question, you are asked to design a trust-focused improvement to the Wishlist experience for people considering Airbnb Experiences. The core challenge is not simply saving items, but helping users feel confident that the experiences they shortlist are credible, safe, available, accurately represented, and worth committing to—especially when they are traveling to unfamiliar destinations, evaluating hosts they do not know, or coordinating with others.

Assume Airbnb operates at global scale across different languages, cultures, regulations, supply quality levels, and traveler expectations. Your design should account for both guest confidence and host marketplace health without turning Wishlists into a heavy booking flow or overwhelming users who are still in inspiration and planning mode.

The experience should consider:

- How experience seekers discover, save, revisit, compare, and share Wishlisted experiences before booking.

- What trust signals matter most at the Wishlist stage versus the listing page or checkout stage.

- Pain points around outdated availability, inconsistent quality, safety concerns, cancellations, misleading expectations, or lack of social proof.

- How trust varies across trip types, geographies, group planning contexts, languages, and first-time versus repeat Airbnb users.

- How the improvement fits into Airbnb’s broader marketplace, including hosts, reviews, policies, support, and dispute resolution.

- How to balance reassurance with simplicity, inspiration, and conversion without creating unnecessary friction.

- How the product should behave when trust information is incomplete, changing, disputed, or locally sensitive.

Your goal is to define a clear user problem, identify the highest-impact trust gap in the Wishlist workflow, and propose a product experience that improves confidence for experience seekers while preserving Airbnb’s global marketplace dynamics.
