Design a new feature in Threads that helps advertisers achieve better outcomes

Problem Statement Description

Product context: Meta is a social technology company; its products include Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, Threads, Quest, creator tools, and ads.

Threads is a fast-moving, conversation-centric social product where people follow creators, brands, friends, and communities around real-time topics. As advertising becomes more important to the business, advertisers will need ways to achieve measurable outcomes without damaging the lightweight, authentic feel that makes Threads engaging for users.

Your task is to design a new Threads feature that helps advertisers perform better. The feature could support any part of the advertiser workflow, such as planning, creative development, audience targeting, campaign activation, engagement, measurement, optimization, or post-campaign learning. You should be clear about which advertiser segment you are serving, what “better outcomes” means for them, and why Threads is uniquely positioned to help.

Consider the tension between advertiser needs and user experience. Advertisers want reach, relevance, conversion, brand safety, and clear ROI, while users expect useful conversations, low-friction discovery, authenticity, and control over what they see. The feature should fit naturally into Threads rather than feeling like a generic ad product copied from another platform.

The experience should consider:

- The primary advertiser users, such as small businesses, performance marketers, brand advertisers, agencies, creators, or social media managers

- The advertiser journey before, during, and after running campaigns on Threads

- Current friction advertisers may face in understanding audiences, creating content, joining conversations, measuring impact, or scaling results

- How the feature could leverage Threads’ social graph, real-time discussions, creator ecosystem, and Meta’s broader advertising infrastructure

- The user-side experience and how to preserve trust, relevance, safety, and conversational quality

- Success metrics for advertisers, users, and Threads as a platform

- Risks such as spam, low-quality engagement, brand safety issues, privacy concerns, creator misuse, or advertiser complexity

The goal is to define a focused product opportunity and describe a feature experience that improves advertiser outcomes while strengthening the long-term health of Threads’ user ecosystem and Meta’s ads business.
