AI in product management: adoption, concerns and outcomes

AI can help you draft a brief faster. That doesn’t tell you whether you chose the right problem. These two surveys describe adoption, concerns and perceived value. Their populations and questions differ, so the results stay separate.

Two surveys, different questions

The Product-Led Alliance findings describe adoption and concerns. Product Focus asks about personal productivity and product outcomes in a separate survey. Neither is a controlled experiment. Faster work and better products are different measures, even when both appear in the same report.

Choose a use case you can evaluate

Start with a bounded task such as summarising customer interviews. Decide how to check missed themes, incorrect statements and whether the summary changes a product decision. Keep the original evidence available. A tidy summary that drops a minority user need may be faster to read but less useful.

Discuss privacy and accuracy concretely

For an interview exercise, imagine an AI assistant that drafts support replies. Identify which customer data it can access, how incorrect answers are detected, what requires human review and when the feature should stop. Discuss the trade-off between response speed and resolving the customer’s problem correctly.

Show judgement, not just tool familiarity

Describe a workflow where AI helps, a failure you would watch for, and the result you would measure. Explain which decisions remain yours. In practice, separate a hypothesis about time saved from evidence of customer value; do not treat survey adoption as proof that an AI feature belongs in every roadmap.
